Airbus A320 Cockpit

Airbus A320 Cockpit

If you are like me, you have wondered about the magic of the cockpit. Many times, as you board (or leave the plane) the cockpit door is open and just like a kid, cannot not take a peak.

I was fortunate enough many moons ago to get sit in, for the first time, the cockpit (flight deck  as it is now called) of an airliner, in that case a 747 flying over France at the time. That was thanks to my cousin. We were both flying to Italy from Canada.

I was hooked.

Getting permission is not has hard as you think, you just have to ask.

Most pilots will be excited to show you the buttons and knobs and lights and switches. It’s their passion. They love it. They love when others love it. It’s the best job in the world and as long as they have time, they’ll show you what’s going on.

That’s sometimes a problem: time.Schedules are sometimes so tight that they’re not able to show off one of their great loves.

But if you go up early, chances are that you can get a couple of minutes.

Give it a try.
