One of my websites got a real boost this week from none other than one of my Saturday Night Live (SNL) idols, Father Guido Sarducci, taking on the “Talk Show with Harper Simon, Episode 42, Pope Francis, Elvis at the Vatican, and UFOs with Father Guido Sarducci”.

Sarducci, a chain-smoking priest with tinted eyeglasses, is a fictional character created by American comedian Don Novello, tell Harper Simon he works as an assistant editor, gossip columnist and rock critic, for the Vatican Enquirer.

Originally Sarducci, in his SNL skits said he worked for the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano (sometimes mentioned as The Vatican Enquirer, a take-off of the tabloid The National Enquirer).

Today, Vaticanenquirer.com is owned and published by yours truly, really surprised when a couple of years ago searching for a name for my satire website, Vaticanenquirer.com was available.

I learned of this by a caller this week who insisted on talking to Don Novello.

“Sorry, you have the wrong number”, I told the caller, who insisted on talking to Novello, the editor of the Vatican Enquirer.

The caller would not believe me that, although I know who Don Novello is and of his Father Guido Sarducci character, he did not work for or was associated with my Vatican Enquirer website.

The call came because Simon Harper added a link to the Vatican Enquirer on his Thelip.tv website.

Don Novello, if you are reading this, you have a (non-paid) job for life at the Vatican Enquirer. Give me a call, send me an email and we’ll discuss terms.
